Saudi Gazette Report JEDDAH — DaVita Kidney Care, a health care company, launched an awareness campaign on March 13 to coincide with World Kidney Day at Al-Salam and Roshan malls here. The campaign included a number of informative workshops and lectures and on the spot consultations for free. DaVita offered early detection sessions of kidney diseases such as renal failure as part of its corporate social responsibility program. The Kingdom's regional manager of DaVita, Abdulrahman Al-Haidary, said renal failure is a silent disease which only has visible symptoms when it reaches a developed stage. “Early detection is the best option the patient has to survive. If the disease reaches a developed stage, then all doctors can do is recommend that the patient undergo dialysis or a kidney transplant operation,” said Al-Haidary. He added regular checkups are very important for everyone especially patients suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases and obesity. “In 2014, DaVita has contracted with the Ministry of Health to treat 5,000 patients with dialysis. By 2018, DaVita will have 75 kidney health care centers in the Kingdom. We always work on giving all our patients, including potential patients, the best medical services and care,” said Al-Haidary.
