Saudi national airline flynas scored yet another achievement by building the number one Facebook following in Saudi Arabia. The airline also enjoys the Arab world's third largest Facebook fan base, as well as the world's ninth greatest number of followers on the social media website. A study by Socialbakers and Arabian Business has shown that Flynas has 3,543,408 followers, which affirms the effectiveness of the Saudi national carrier's social media communication strategies. Expressing his happiness with this new achievement, Yazeed Al-Rasheed, Director of Marketing and Communication at NAS Holding, said that this is another reason for the national carrier to be proud. “These distinguished results confirm flynas' status in the hearts and minds of its guests,” he said. “What makes us even more proud is that flynas' accounts on social media is handled by a team of young, talented Saudis, whose efforts helped flynas become a world-class social media communicator.” flynas had broken a new record when the number of likes on its Facebook page hit the three million mark in January 2014. Later that year, flynas won the Best Emerging Airline on Social Media award from SimpliFlying. In 2013, flynas won two other awards: the CAPA Aviation Award for Excellence in the IT innovation category, and Effie Award MENA for Marketing Excellence in the travel, tourism and transport category. In November 2014, flynas became the first Saudi airline to offer a mobile app for ticketing services. flynas also made flying more convenient by offering a service that sends boarding passes directly to users' phones, which they would then show to boarding officers at terminals, eliminating the need to use printed paper. — SG
