Parents are blessings in life. Mom and Dad do everything to keep you happy, strong and healthy. Your Mom works day and night, so that you can be comfortable, and get whatever you wish for. Whereas, your father works hard outside, so that you can live a relaxed lifestyle and be able to go to the best school.
In doing all the hard work and looking after you, they are neglecting their health. While making sure you are undisturbed in your bed, they don't get to sleep as much as their body requires. While preparing food for you on time; they forget to eat on time. While your father is earning; he faces a lot of stress and work related tensions. You must have seen them taking lots of medications because of their body pain, fatigue and exhaustion.
Some even resort to smoking.
Have you ever looked at your parents and wish they were healthier?
According to a recent survey, 46 percent of the kids wish their parents were healthy, and almost 70 percent of them want their parents to make changes to be healthier. In addition, fact is parents can better address their children's health by taking care of their own health first. As much as parents worry about the lifestyle, health and weight of their kids, they need to acknowledge the concerns for themselves as well.
So how to make your parents healthy?
Kids have the power to inspire and motivate their kids. For example, when parents are exhausted and don't feel like going out, they could be adamant and parents have to surrender just for their kid's happiness. Imagine the power you have in your hands, and how you could use it in the right way to instill healthy habits in your beloved parents.
You have to be polite in doing so and respectful because they will understand you are doing this out of love. Even though your mom do all the house chores, she isn't getting enough fresh air. Ask her gently, “Weather is pleasant outside. Can we do for a walk?” or maybe “I read it in school that walking is healthy for our body. Can we go walk outside?”
Make your request in a caring way and tell them you are worried when you see your mom fatigued and your father stressed out. Help them with their daily tasks so they can take break from the daily routine. “Dad why don't I type the document for you, and you just watch a movie or go out and eat something.” You will be giving them the time to relax, which they badly need.
Make plans together, about dinner or outings. “I am planning to eat more than 3 fruits a day, will you join me mom?” Or you can simply empty your snack cabinet and tell your parents that you plan on eating healthy from now onwards.
Include Science and logic on why it is important to have a healthy lifestyle. Tell them about the new article you read about benefits of green tea and dangers of smoking. Tell them, you care about them and want them to be around with you for long. Last but not the least, be grateful to them and appreciate them for all the efforts and hard work they are putting in just for you.
