RIYADH — Pakistan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Manzur Ul Haq advised Pakistanis to respect and abide by the local laws. “Pakistanis should be aware of the local laws and they should begin to respect the moment they plan to come to this country – that is, before they board the aircraft," Haq said. Haq was speaking to a delegation of Pakistan Writers Club-Riyadh (PWC) and its ladies chapter ( PWC-LC) led by its president Faiz Al-Najdi. “You see many people knowingly or unknowing break the law and as a result suffer – and their family also suffers. In order to avoid any trouble the best recourse is to respect and abide by the local laws, said the ambassador. Ambassador Haq patiently listened to each member of PWC and PWC-LC who discussed with him the various problems faced by the Pakistani community in Saudi Arabia in general and Riyadh in particular. Al-Najdi introduced each member of the delegation to the ambassador who was visibly pleased to receive and meet with all of them. Al-Najdi also briefed Haq on various round the year activities of PWC, which includes literary sitting, observing of Pakistan's National Day (23rd March), Pakistan Independence Day (14th August), Saudi National Day (23rd September) and various UN International Days. The PWC president also updated him on the PWC Yahoo Group, an online discussion group initiated and moderated by PWC. Al-Najdi informed the ambassador that via this Yahoo Group PWC has been able to help members of the community in several ways. “This group also acts as a bridge between the community and the embassy." Haq liked the idea and appreciated the constructive activities of PWC. Members who were part of the meeting were Ashiq Hussain, Engr. Rauf Mughal, H.M. Fayyaz, Sanobar Sani, Aymen Zaheer, Zubair Bhatti, Dr. Wardah Qureshi, Asma Tariq, Shaheen Javed, Farah Ehsan, Engr. Madiha Noman, Reem Al-Qurashi, Madiha Malik, and Ambreen Faiz Ahmad. Haq appreciated the literary activities of PWC and showed interest in observance of days of literary legends like Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Allama Muhammad Iqbal – and others - jointly with the embassy. — SG
