JEDDAH — The 8th Asian Film Festival will open in Jeddah on Saturday with the screening of the Japanese movie Robo-G at the Garden Residence of Consul General Matahiro Yamaguchi. The festival, organized by the Asian Consuls General Club (ACGC), will feature movies from 13 member countries of the club. The festival will last until March 13 and will screen Best From the Sky (Malaysia), Samige Kathawa (Sri Lanka), Television (Bangladesh), The Bit Player or Ekstra (Philippines), Ocean Heaven (China), Ah Boys To Men 2 (Singapore), Khuda Kay Liye (Pakistan), Jokowi (Indonesia), Drishyam (India) and Mr. Go (Korea), in addition to a feature film from Thailand. The festival will conclude on March 13 with an Asian food festival where each participant country will present its famous cuisines. Movies will be screened at six different venues, including the residences of the Korean, Japanese and Indonesian consuls general and the consulates of Malaysia, Sri Lanka and India. — Syeda Amtul
