Galchenyuk and Price lead Canadiens over Blues
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 26 - 02 - 2015

NEW YORK — Alex Galchenyuk scored twice and goaltender Carey Price made 27 saves to lead Montreal to a 5-2 win over St. Louis Tuesday.
Galchenyuk, who also added an assist, missed the previous two games with a severe case of the flu.
Right-winger Brendan Gallagher also scored twice for Montreal, who lead the Eastern Conference with 83 points. Left-winger Michael Bournival and Gallagher tallied 49 seconds apart late in the second period to push the lead to 4-1.
Islanders 5, Coyotes 1: The New York Islanders scored four goals in the first nine minutes of the third period to blow open a tied game and rout Arizona at Nassau Coliseum.
Left-winger Matt Martin scored the go-ahead goal 3:18 into the period for the Islanders, who buried the Coyotes with subsequent scores from defenseman Johnny Boychuk, left winger Kael Mouillierat and center Brock Nelson.
Blackhawks 3, Panthers 2 (SO): Chicago let a 2-0 lead get away but Patrick Sharp's goal in the shootout gave them the win over Florida.
While the victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Blackhawks, they played most of the contest without All-Star right-winger Patrick Kane, who left the game with an upper-body injury and did not return.
Rangers 1, Flames 0: Left-winger Kevin Hayes scored the game's lone goal as the New York Rangers edged Calgary 1-0 at Madison Square Garden.
Hayes scored his 12th goal of the season three minutes into the third period. A bouncing puck resulted in a quick two-on-one chance led by center Derick Brassard, who fed Hayes for the one-time shot that eluded Flames goaltender Karri Ramo.
Predators 5, Avalanche 2: Nashville rallied to score five consecutive goals after falling behind early to earn a 5-2 win over Colorado at Bridgestone Arena.
The Predators (41-13-7) recorded their sixth consecutive home victory. Nashville, who lead the NHL with 89 points, improved to 26-3-1 on home ice.
With 21 games left, Nashville are 22 points away from breaking the team record for most points in a season (110), a mark set in 2006-07.
Jets 4, Stars 2: Rookie winger Adam Lowry cashed in his own rebound at 14:34 of the second period to snap a 1-1 tie and spark Winnipeg to a 4-2 victory over Dallas.
Lowry scored his seventh goal of the season on a terrific individual effort, storming the Stars net to fire Winnipeg's first shot of the period on goalie Jhonas Enroth and then flipping in his own rebound.
Hurricanes 4, Flyers 1: Defenseman Justin Faulk and center Jordan Staal scored power-play goals, and Cam Ward stopped 23 shots, as Carolina downed Philadelphia 4-1.
Left winger Jeff Skinner and center Jay McClement also scored for the Hurricanes.
Sabres 4, Blue Jackets 2: Centers Cody Hodgson and Zemgus Girgensons, defenseman Mark Pysyk and right-winger Chris Stewart scored goals, as Buffalo took advantage of a third-string Columbus goaltender in a 4-2 win.
Buffalo goaltender Michal Neuvirth had 45 saves and won for only the second time since Nov. 15.
The Blue Jackets could not overcome the early struggles of rookie goaltender Anton Forsberg, who allowed four goals on his first 14 shots before settling into the game.
Left-winger Matt Calvert and defenseman Kevin Connauton scored for the Blue Jackets.
Canucks 2, Bruins 1: Backup Canucks goaltender Eddie Lack, the starter for what looks like at least a month with Ryan Miller hurt, turned in his second straight strong performance, leading Vancouver to a 2-1 win over Boston.
Oilers 2, Wild 1: Edmonton left-winger Benoit Pouliot came back to haunt his first NHL team Tuesday, scoring twice in a 2-1 win over Minnesota. — Reuters
