Mane', Minister of Health, has expressed his resentment over the general failure of administrative system in King Fahd Hospital here. He said maintenance and upkeep of the hospital do not match the vast sums of money allocated for the purpose. During his inspection tour of the hospital here on Sunday, the minister issued orders to expedite the completion of Heart Center project in Madina. About 70 percent of the project, the biggest of its kind in the Kingdom, has already been completed. The project worth SR120 million was launched early last year. Besides inspecting the hospital, the minister also visited the projects of heart and kidney centers and Al-Yetemah and Al-Hamnah hospitals meant to serve the pilgrims. Muhammad Samman, director of the contracting company carrying out the Heart Center, assured Dr. Al-Mane' that the project would be completed within six months. The minister also visited Ashwaq Al-Harbi, who has been lying in King Fahd Hospital since October due to severe third degree burns on her body. The minister listened to the complaints by the girl's maternal uncle, Abdullah, that her condition was not improving and the medical services were inadequate. The uncle referred to a medical error in the quantity of anesthesia given to the girl that led to her slipping into a coma for 24 hours affecting the functions of her liver.
