RABAT, Morocco — Morocco has announced that flights between Morocco and Libya have been suspended because security at Libyan airports is not up to international standards. The joint statement from the Interior and Transportation Ministry on Monday night said the suspension included flights by Libyan airplanes over Moroccan territory. Moroccan citizens residing in Libya hoping to return home would have to pass through neighboring countries, added the statement. The move comes after the grisly killing of 21 Christian Egyptians by a radical Libyan group claiming allegiance to the self-proclaimed Islamic State group. Libya's neighbor Tunisia also announced Monday it was reinforcing its borders after the killing. North African countries have been alarmed by the rise of radical groups in Libya claiming allegiance to the Islamic State group based in Syria. — AP
