MAKKAH – A female Chinese Umrah pilgrim died Monday after falling from the temporary circular bridge into the mataf (circumambulating area around the Holy Kaaba). Brig. Gen. Muhammad Al-Ahmadi, commander of the Grand Mosque Security Force, said that the body of the pilgrim was taken to the morgue at King Faisal Hospital in Makkah. Meanwhile, ‘Sabq' online newspaper said the woman committed suicide by jumping from the temporary mataf bridge. The woman stood on a chair and climbed up a wall in a high place in the mosque before jumping down, it said citing police sources.
