Performing Haj whilst having outstanding loan to pay off Q – A Muslim wanted to perform the obligatory Haj whilst having an (outstanding) loan, so if he were to seek permission from the lenders, and they permitted him to perform the Haj, would his Haj be acceptable? A – If the situation is as you have mentioned, with the permission of the lenders to perform Haj before completing payment (of the loan), then there is no problem in performing the Haj before completing the payment (of the loan). And there is no affect (upon the Haj) for being a debtor to them in such a situation. The Permanent Committee for Islaamic Research and Verdicts; Fatawa – Volume 11, Page 46, Fatwa No.5545. Whilst in Ihram, played with hair and some hair fell out Q – I have a habit of playing with my hair when I am thinking. After I had entered the state of Ihram, I forgetfully did this and some hair fell out. Do I have to make an expiation? A – There is nothing required of you due to that which Allah mentions regarding the believers that they pray ro Him thus: “Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error…” (Qur'an, 2:286) And Allah has responded to their request as it has been mentioned on the authority of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that Allah said: “I have done (this).” (Saheeh Muslim) Sheikh Bin Baz; Fatawa on Haj, Umrah and Ziyaarah - Page 58 Sending a maid for Haj with a group of women Q – Is it permissible for me to send my maid for the obligatory Haj with a group of women travelling with a Haj package group (company specializing in transporting the Haj pilgrims)? A – It is not permissible for a woman to travel for the Haj or other than the Haj except with a mahram, whether she is a maid or not, as the Prophet said (peace be upon him) has said: “It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to travel the distance of two days, except with a Mahram.” (Al-Bukhari) And a group of women does not constitute a mahram and, likewise, nor does the Haj package group and this does not exonerate her from that which is forbidden in the mentioned Ahadith. Applying perfume on Ihram before making intention (Niyyah) Q – What is the ruling regarding applying perfume on the ihram before making the intention and saying the Talbiyah? A – It is not befitting to apply perfume on the Ihraam, rather, the Sunnah is to apply the perfume on the body such as the head, the beard, the armpits, and on other such places. As for the Ihram, then do not apply perfume on them as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Do not wear clothing which has been ‘touched' by Za'faran or Al-wars (i.e. types of perfume).” So, the Sunnah is to apply perfume on the body only, and as for the Ihram, the perfume is not to be applied on it. And if it has been, then it is not to be worn until it is washed or changed (for a cleaner one). Sheikh Bin Baz; Fatawa – Volume 6, Page 96, Fatwa No.46. Ruling regarding one who is In Mina on 8th day of Dhul-Hijjah Q – What is the ruling about the one who was in Mina before the Day of Tarwiyyah (8th of Dhul Hijjah)? Does he enter Makkah and enter the state of Ihram (there) or does he enter the state of Ihram in Mina? A – For the one, who is in Mina, it is legislated for him to enter the state of Ihraam in Mina and all Praise is for Allah. There is no need to enter Makkah, rather he should pronounce the Talbiyyah for the Haj from where he is, if its time has arrived. Sheikh Bin Baz; Fatawa – Volume 6, Page 96, Fatwa No.47 Mother performed Haj with a person other than her mahram Q – My mother performed the Haj with a person other than her Mahram while she was over 60 years of age. Is her Haj correct or should I repeat the Haj on her behalf, knowing that she has now died - may Allah have Mercy upon her? A – If a woman performed the Haj with a person other than her Mahram, then she has violated (her Lord's command) and has committed a sin (by doing so). This is because the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade the woman to travel without a Mahram for Haj or for any purpoze other than Haj. As for the mother's Haj itself, then it is correct, Insha Allah. However, it is with sin attached to it and we hope Allah forgives her (for this). Sheikh Ibn Fowzan; Fatawa Ibn Fowzan - Volume 3, Page 168, Fatwa No.253 Is it permissible to change the Ihram (in order) to wash it? Q – Is it permissible to change the Ihram (in order) to wash it? A – There is no problem in washing the Ihram (clothing) or changing it and using (other than that) a new or washed Ihram (clothing). Sheikh Bin Baz; Fatawa
