I am writing with regard to the article “US to destroy its largest remaining stockpile of chemical weapons” (Feb. 5). The news that the US is about to begin destroying its largest stockpile of chemical-laden artillery shells is a good and praiseworthy step designed to make the world free of chemical weapons. The race for nuclear, chemical and biological weapons has made the world a more dangerous place and has brought it to the brink of destruction.
