Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on Monday reiterated that the Kingdom will never deviate from the path followed by the State since its inception by the founder King Abdulaziz and his righteous sons after him.

Chairing the weekly session of the Council of Ministers at Al-Yamamah Palace here, the first after becoming the monarch, King Salman urged the ministers to give top priority to the interests of the nation and its people, and strive to realize their aspirations.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Toraifi said King Salman pledged that his government would hold fast to Shariah and the Prophet's Tradition, and is fully aware of its immense responsibilities as the cradle of Islam and Arabism.

The King reemphasized that the Kingdom would continue its current policies constantly at the Arab, Islamic and international arenas.
“We are determined to continue our serious work in serving Islam and bringing goodness to our noble people and supporting the Arab and Islamic causes. We would also contribute to consolidating peace and security at the international level and achieving global economic growth,” the King said.

At the outset of the session, Al-Toraifi said, King Salman expressed his grief as well as that of the Saudi people and the Arab and Islamic world over the death of King Abdullah.

The King also thanked leaders and delegations of Arab, Islamic and friendly countries for their condolences on the death of King Abdullah and their sincere feelings to stand by the side of the Kingdom at the moment of its great loss.

On behalf of the Cabinet, King Salman welcomed Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz as Crown Prince and Deputy Premier, and Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, as Deputy Crown Prince and Minister of Interior, as well as the new ministers, wishing them every success.
