Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif's hearing into a doping allegation was postponed Thursday after terror attacks in Mumbai killed more than 100 people, his lawyer said. Asif was due to appear before the Indian Premier League's drug tribunal in Mumbai on Saturday. “The hearing has been postponed after a very sad incident in Mumbai,” lawyer Shahid Karim told The Associated Press, adding that the new date would be announced in due time. The Pakistan Cricket Board has banned the right-arm paceman from playing international or domestic cricket after he tested positive for the banned substance nandrolone in the IPL in May. Asif subsequently filed an appeal with an IPL drug tribunal, which comprises former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, Dr. Ravi Bapat and lawyer Shirish Gupte. Both his “A” and “B” samples tested positive at a World Anti-Doping Agency accredited laboratory, but with a different concentration of nandrolone in each sample. In June, on his way home from playing in the IPL, Asif was detained for 19 days in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after authorities allegedly found a substance containing opium in his wallet at the airport. Asif was released without being charged. In 2006, Asif and Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar were pulled out of the Champions Trophy after both tested positive for nandrolone during the PCB's internal testing.
