Abdullah Al-Hateelah Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH – Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, second deputy premier and minister of interior, on Saturday issued directives to provincial emirs and other concerned officials to immediately implement Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman's order regarding the release of prisoners under a royal amnesty. In an order issued late Thursday night, King Salman asked some of the prisoners of public rights, including expatriates, to be released and the private rights other prisoners owe to their litigants to be cleared from public funds. Prince Muhammad directed officials to promptly prepare the list of beneficiaries of amnesty and refer their names to the concerned authorities. The Directorate General for Prisons has already begun completing procedures for the release of prisoners who are likely to benefit from the royal order. Director General of Prisons Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Al-Hamzi said prisoners who will benefit from the order in different regions of the Kingdom would be released starting Sunday. “We distributed general guidelines interpreting the amnesty on Saturday itself. Immediately, the Directorate General for Prisons and the prison administrations in the regions and governorates started working day and night to expedite completing the procedures to implement the generous gesture of King Salman, who is keen to reunite the inmates with their families,” Al-Hamzi said.
