RIYADH — The President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) Dr. Mohammed Al-Suwayel stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the city, has embarked on building a knowledge society for more than seven years during which it made many achievements. President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology made the remarks during a session of the Global Competitiveness Forum which started here Monday.
In his remarks, Dr. Al-Suwayel detailed the Kingdom's progress in the technological field and the city's efforts in this sphere.
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Gulf International Bank, Dr. Yahya Yahya hoped that the discussions at the forum promote the awareness of the importance of the government sector competitiveness, especially with regard to the expansion of the financial markets and the development of financing structures in a more innovative way.
The first session of the Global Competitiveness Forum stressed the importance of improving the competitiveness of the government sector in the Kingdom.
A number of ministers and officials highlighted the initiatives taken in this regard, particularly the shift to electronic transactions. The session featured Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Minister of Civil Service Dr Abdulrahman Al-Barrak and other officials.
The two ministers highlighted their ministries' efforts in boosting competitiveness of the government sector in the Kingdom. In a press statement following the session, Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah said. — SG
