RIYADH — There are 100,000 private sector jobs available for women working from home. An announcement to this effect was made on Tuesday after the Ministry of Labor said that companies complying with its decision to offer positions to women working from home and candidates with disabilities will gain incentives through the Nitaqat program. Employees working from home will be counted in Saudization quotas. The ministry aims to tackle women's unemployment by offering them job opportunities that do not oblige them to worry about transportation. Founder of the employment website Glowork Khalid Al-Waleed said the job market has definitely changed with the proliferation of technology in people's daily lives. He said: “Jobs done online and from home can vary from managing a social media account to e-marketing and many others. Moreover, companies have already tried employing women working from home and the experience was highly successful and productive.” Employment specialist Hadi Al-Falih viewed the ministry's decision as a positive one that would offer many job opportunities for women. He said: “Most companies operate electronically whether they are an e-commerce company or they market their products online. Technology has aided in the development of business and has opened new horizons for women's employment.” He added that the ministry needs to set regulations for the contracts of those working from home in order to ensure they are in sustainable positions that are full time.
