Ayman Hassan Saudi Gazette RIYADH — Saudi national Tamader Aldossari was declared the winner of the LINE's “Design Your Own Sticker” competition. Participants from 11 countries, namely Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Lebanon, Bahrain, Kuwait, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia, took part in the competition by submitting a sticker that would showcase the Arabic culture in a creative way. The stickers had to be appealing, applicable to Arabic dialogues and social situations and relevant for day-to-day conversations on LINE. Aldossari, a 23-year-old assistant teacher at the Imam University in Riyadh, was among the 1,000 plus participants who entered the month-long competition. Her No3man sticker design was chosen as the winning entry by LINE users in the region. She received the grand prize of US$ 10,000 and an opportunity to release her work via the LINE Sticker Shop. A self-taught design and animation enthusiast, Tamader Aldossari said: “In school I was known for my sticker collections and my books were full of them. Later, I was introduced to electronic stickers and I was able to extend my passion for paper stickers to an electronic medium. Even though my profession is far removed from design and illustration I am thrilled that LINE gave me this opportunity as I am keen to learn and enhance my illustration skills. I think LINE is the best mobile app, since it offers multiple platforms not just to stay connected with my family and friends everywhere, but also offers unique family apps like LINE camera and LINE Brush that enable me to create and share my drawings.” Commenting on LINE's plans for Saudi Arabia, Minho Goh, Managing Director of MENA and Turkey at LINE PLUS Corporation, said: “Saudi Arabia is a strategic market for us and we are keen to reach out to more users with campaigns and programs tailored specifically for the local users. This is why we launched the sticker competition. Our main aim was to engage and involve our local users and allow them to be part of our growth process.” Launched in 2011, LINE already has more than 10 million users in Saudi Arabia and is the fastest growing mobile platform.
