Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., unveiled in Riyadh this week Samsung Wave, a touch screen model, claiming to offer unmatched technology in the smartphone market. As the device is nicknamed ‘bada' or ‘ocean' in the Korean language, the Samsung Wave is set to revolutionize the smartphone market in Saudi Arabia because it offers the consumers a whole range of mobile experience. With the launch of the Wave, Samsung is actively constructing a complete ‘eco-system' around the ‘bada' platform including Samsung Apps, an integrated application store accessible from the device and online, which allows Wave users to simply and easily download an abundance of applications, said Andrew Shin, Business Manager at Samsung Electronics in the Kingdom. With Samsung Apps, the users will benefit from a whole range of features any smartphone can offer today such as games, navigation, social networking, e-book functions and health and lifestyle applications. Noman Abdul Majeed, the Corporate Marketing Manager at Samsung Electronics, Saudi Arabia, said that the smartphone market in Saudi Arabia is fast growing and the unveiling of Samsung Wave, is the culmination of the best technology now available in the world. The availability of Samsung ‘bada' SDK (software development kit) will ensure consumers to experience a stream of new applications that support the ‘bada' platform, he said. The beta version of the SDK was recently made available to applications developers, and the complete ‘bada' SDK 1.0.0. will be available for download shortly, he added.
