JEDDAH — The Ministry of Labor has launched a new project to register violations and check the information of any business using tablet devices. Inspectors will be carrying the small electronic devices that will allow them to double check such information quickly and find out if a trader is in compliance with the ministry's laws and regulations. This is part of the ministry's plan to activate e-government applications and make the work of its inspectors easier and faster. Dr. Abdullah Abu Ethnain, undersecretary for inspection and work environment development, called the project “an innovation that utilizes technology to provide important services.” The devices are linked to the databases of the ministries of labor, and commerce and industry. Inspectors can access a full report about the business showing the history of violations, fines given, undertakings made, etc.
