Published in The Saudi Gazette on 27 - 11 - 2014

MOBILY has upgraded the cable networks of its cable landing stations in Jeddah and Al-Khobar. These landing stations connect the Gulf to the TGN subsea Cable System, operated by Tata Communications, a leading provider of A New World of Communications. Mobily is the exclusive landing party in Saudi Arabia (Jeddah and Al-Khobar) for the Tata Communications global network.
Due to Mobily's wide 4G/LTE and FTTH networks coverage, this upgrade will support its effort in meeting the ever-growing demand that Mobily is experiencing for high-bandwidth voice and data services, lower latencies, higher uptimes and seamless scalability. The capacity will also help to support the continued expansion in broadband penetration, Internet usage and enterprise applications in this rapidly expanding emerging market region.
Amer Mowafi, Chief Wholesale & Carrier Services Officer of Mobily, said: “We are pleased to stimulate our precious cooperation with Tata Communications, which is an added-value for the two parties.”
He added “Mobily is experiencing an aggressive plan to expand its fiber optics network, which requires enhance our infrastructure in term of bandwidth and capacity of the network. Therefore, Mobily plays a key role in submarine cables in the region.
Radwan Moussali, Senior Vice President, Middle East, Central Asia and Africa for Tata Communications, said: “We are delighted to be able to enhance our long-standing relationship with Mobily with the cable network upgrades at Al-Khobar and Jeddah. These upgrades are in keeping with the growing needs of consumers in Saudi Arabia. Leveraging Tata Communications' around-the-world sub-sea fibre optic cable network not only offers east-west diversity, but also provides Mobily with access to a global audience with outstanding quality of service for its customers in the region.” — SG
