High technology insulation materials that protect buildings in a fire are being installed in major projects across the Middle East as regulations are introduced to help save lives in the event of a blaze, according to an international industry leader. “With major multi-billion dollar buildings and projects being constructed across the region, there is greater awareness of the need to provide better protection against fires spreading,” said Peter Vinken, Export director of Rockwool Technical Insulation. According to recent figures from the Emirates Medical Association, last year, there were 2,460 fires in the United Arab Emirates alone, which killed 40 and injured 172 people. Dubai recorded 707 fires up to August this year, up from 598 last year.
