STRASBOURG, France — Jari-Matti Latvala claimed a maiden asphalt victory at the Rally de France Sunday, reviving his challenge for the world title. With two races remaining this season, the Finn cut his deficit to world champion Sebastien Ogier to 27 points after the Frenchman's hopes of clinching a second straight title on home soil disappeared during the first stage because of mechanical problems. Ogier, who entered the race with a 50-point lead over Latvala, lost nearly nine minutes on the Finn when his engine cut out Friday. Latvala finished 44.8 seconds ahead of his Volkswagen teammate Andreas Mikkelsen. Kris Meeke was third, 1:05.03 off the pace in his Citroen DS3. — AP
