Three people died early Tuesday morning when an Asian man stole an empty bus and rammed it into oncoming traffic near the Palestine Road exit on Al-Harmain Highway. Three members of a family in a private car were killed in the collision. Police did not reveal the identities of the two women and a man killed in the accident around 5 A.M. “It was unbelievable!” said a witness. “Sheer lunacy!” A bystander Muhammed Al-Yamai said he had a lucky escape. “I looked up and saw the bus coming straight for me and leapt out of the way with only inches to spare,” he said. The 55-seater bus was heading in the wrong direction on the one-way lane. Sources said the bus was stolen from north Jeddah and the driver was speeding wildly and bumping into vehicles, among them a bus carrying female teachers, before it crashed to a halt. Traffic was snarled for hours after the accident. Police overpowered the driver and took him to custody. Investigations are on to determine the motive of the man's deadly drive. – Okaz/SG __
