Yanbu serial killer to be executed soon
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 05 - 08 - 2014

Saudi Gazette report
YANBU — A man who raped and killed three Asian housemaids between 2007 and 2009 is to be beheaded soon and his corpse left in the execution area for a while, sources told Al-Hayat daily.
Awdah Salim, an expatriate who used fake identification documents while living in Yanbu, was dubbed one of the 10 nastiest serial murderers in the region by listverse.com.
A panel of judges at a Yanbu court unanimously declared him guilty and sentenced him to death.
Salim confessed to murdering three maids after raping them and beating them beyond recognition before disposing of their bodies.
His first murder took place at the beginning of Ramadan in 2007.
He developed a relationship with a maid over the phone and then convinced her to run away from her sponsor and move in with him.
After she left her sponsor, they met at the Yanbu Corniche where he talked her into coming along with him to have sex. He took her to a house where he sexually assaulted her, beat her with a stick and then smothered her to death with a pillow.
He buried her in a desert near the Yanbu Al-Nakhil Highway.
The second murder took place around a year and a half later, when Salim spotted a maid sitting by herself near a parking lot.
He approached his victim and convinced her to go with him to a remote area, where he raped and then hanged her. To make sure she was dead, he hit her with a big stone on the head three times. The body was put in a garbage bag and buried close to the murder scene.
In 2009, he approached another maid who was walking in the street and talked her into coming home with him. This time, he sexually assaulted her in his bedroom.
Somehow, the maid managed to run away from the room but Salim followed her into the street and stabbed her three times before pouring some acid over her body and burying her in the desert.
