MHA and Jeddah Shaheen triumph in Jotun League

JEDDAH — MHA and Jeddah Shaheen scored thrilling wins in the 9th week matches of the Jotun League sponsored by Jotun Saudi Arabia and organized by Jeddah Cricket Association.
In other matches Pak Young and Al-Khulais scored convincing wins over their rivals.
MHA beat Butt Sports by 32 runs. MHA, batting first, scored 260 for the loss of 7 wickets. Zia laid the foundation blasting his way to a hurricane knock of 61 runs off 17 balls with 7 sixes and 3 fours. He was given good support by Shad Muhammad (21) and Wali (32). Later Zakir used the long handle to telling effect scoring a quick-fire 58 not out with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Junaid picked 2-29.
In reply, Butt Sports started off on a positive note with Javed and Imran laying a solid foundation. Javed scored an attractive 66 off 21 balls, while Imran hit 71 off 22 balls, but others failed to handle the bowling of Hisham (3-20), Riaz Afridi (2-46) as the team could score only 228-9.
Jeddah Shaheen beat Al-Boroj by 11 runs. Jeddah Shaheen amassed 222-3. Khalil Swati with 52 off 33 balls and Bilal Khan 83 off 46 balls powered them to the massive score with support from Pervaiz (34) and Jameel (24 not out). Khalid and Usman had one wicket each. In reply, Al-Boroj came very close to the target as Usman blasted 71 off 41 balls, Ayaz 39 off 18 balls and Kamran 28. Rashid (3-21), Nazir (2-36) and Amir (2-44) applied the brakes to restrict it to 211-8.
Pak Young edged Saleheen by 2 wickets. Saleheen put up a fighting score of 173 for 9. Irfan scored 75 off 26 balls (8 fours, 5 sixes). Manzar claimed 4-31 and Yasir 2-35. In reply, Pak Young kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but Tahir stood firm with a solid 56 off 25 balls (11 fours and 2 six).
With support from the lower order he took the team to 174 for 8 in 14 .5 overs. Irfan bowled a tight length to finish with impressive figures of 4-18, while Sohail chipped in with 3-50.
Al-Khulais thumped KAIA by 7 wickets. KAIA put up a fighting score of 181-7. Amin (61), Ehsan (25) and Farhan (41 not out) were among the runs.
Hafiz and Shahab picked up 3 wickets each for 34 and 29 runs, respectively. In reply, Al-Khulais chased down the target in style scoring 183-3 with useful contributions from the blades of Zahoor (49 - 7 fours, 2 sixes), Irshad (52 - 6 fours, 3 sixes), Ateeq (26 not out) and Majid Bhatti (22). Ehsan took 2-26.
