ISTANBUL — Caroline Wozniacki overpowered second-seeded Roberta Vinci 6-1, 6-1 Sunday to win the Istanbul Cup final and clinch her first WTA title of the year. Top-seeded Wozniacki needed only 67 minutes against the 24th-ranked Italian at the hard-court Koza World of Sport Complex. Wozniacki won 76 percent of points on her first serve — compared to just 43 percent for Vinci — and also saved all six break points against her. The two players are now 2-2 in head-to-heads with Vinci beating the Dane when she was the top-ranked player in 2011. The 24-year-old Wozniacki, now ranked 15th, has won at least one WTA title every year since 2008. Mayer stuns Ferrer In Hamburg, Argentina's world No. 46 Leonardo Mayer captured his first ATP title Sunday when he fought back to defeat top seeded Spaniard David Ferrer, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) in the Hamburg final. Mayer becomes the lowest-ranked winner of an ATP World Tour 500 tournament since No. 54 Radek Stepanek clinched the Washington title in 2011. The 27-year-old Mayer is enjoying one of the best spells of his career. Last month, the right-hander advanced to the fourth round at Wimbledon and made his first ATP World Tour final in Vina del Mar earlier this year. The 32-year-old Ferrer was contesting his 44th tour-level title match and dropped to a 21-23 finals record. Barthel wins Swedish Open Germany's Mona Barthel won her third career title Sunday when she claimed the Swedish Open with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win over South Africa's Chanelle Scheepers. Barthel, 23, made the most of an open draw which had seen Serena Williams withdraw and seven of the top eight seeds losing in the first round. Tomic-Karlovic final In Bogota, Australian Bernard Tomic will face defending champion Ivo Karlovic in the Bogota ATP final after edging Victor Estrella 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-5) in Saturday's semifinal.
