Wirelessly charge your smartphone
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 07 - 2014

Add the ZENS Qi Flexible Receiver Universal Micro USB behind the battery and the smartphone becomes Qi enabled.
If the last thing you do every night is plug a charging cable into your phone, then you must be feeling very, very old. The Wireless Power Consortium published the Qi (pronounced “Chee”) standard in 2009 for low power inductive electrical transfer. It has gained in popularity with many handsets now being manufactured Qi integrated. Qi hotspots are springing up too, where people can get a quick wireless charge perhaps while waiting for a latte or at the boarding gate for a flight.
Qi charging uses an induction coil to create an alternating electromagnetic field from within a charging base station. A second induction coil in the portable device takes power from the electromagnetic field and converts it back into electrical current to charge the battery.
So how do you make your smartphone Qi enabled? The easiest way is to go to ZENS (www.makezens.com). ZENS is a young company in Eindhoven, Netherlands. ZENS fully supports the Qi standard and is the first company in Europe to market a series of wireless charging solutions based on this standard. From the ZENS homepage, click on the “My Device” box to see if your smartphone is Qi integrated or if you need a ZENS add-on to begin wirelessly powering up.
Owners of Qi integrated smartphones can immediately select from a variety of charging base stations for car, home or office. If your phone isn't Qi integrated, then ZENS can solve that problem.
The ZENS Qi Flexible Receiver Lightning is an easy plug-in solution that gives your iPhone 5S, 5C or 5 instant wireless charging ability. It works optimally if you use a protective case or flip case with your Apple iPhone. To operate, simply remove your case and add the Flexible Receiver to your iPhone. Put back your protective case or flip case and you are ready to go.
For other smartphones, the ZENS Qi Flexible Receiver Universal Micro USB is very slim and fits discreetly over the back of the smartphone, enabling it to support wireless charging. This wireless charging receiver is the perfect choice for anyone looking to make their Micro USB device “Qi enabled,” while still using their smartphone's existing protective case or flip case. And as the ZENS Qi Flexible Receiver Universal Micro USB is so thin, it can even be used without a protective case or flip case. If possible, simply remove the battery cover and place the Qi Flexible Receiver over the battery and then put the battery cover in place again.
With a ZENS receiver added to your smartphone, you're ready to join the wireless charging revolution. ZENS ships its products to most countries worldwide including Saudi Arabia. By the way, it's not just smartphones that use Qi charging base stations. New smartwatches also charge on Qi base stations.
