WELLINGTON — A 17-year-old New Zealand rugby player has died as a result of a head injury suffered in a match Saturday. Jordan Kemp was playing for the Otamatea against Marist in a club match at Whangarei on New Zealand's North Island when he was knocked unconscious in a tackle. He was flown to Auckland City Hospital and was listed in a critical condition with bleeding on the brain. Kemp was pronounced dead Sunday, the Northland Rugby Union said in a statement. The union said it is “currently working through the serious injury investigation process and will forward this through the appropriate parties investigating his death.” — AP
