RIYADH — Social Affairs Minister Yusuf Al-Othaimeen has approved SR340.5 million in annual grants to 680 charity organizations to help the poor, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. Undersecretary of the ministry Abdullah Al-Sadhan lauded the role played by charity organizations and asked businessmen to donate money to them. He said the donations should be made right at the headquarters and main offices of the organizations or deposited in their bank accounts. Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry has warned that it would freeze the bank accounts of organizations and individuals who are found to be collecting donations without official authorization.
