TAIF – The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) recently stopped two Saudi fathers in Taif from marrying off their minor daughters to old men. Adel Al-Thubaiti, NSHR representative in Taif, said the society intervened after the girls' concerned relatives contacted them. He said one of the girls was barely 11 while her would-be husband was over 75. “The marriages would have been grossly unfair to both girls because of the huge age difference between them and the grooms,” Al-Thubaiti said.
