RIYADH – Indians residing here recently organized a musical program dubbed “Moods of Khan Ather, Shab-e-Naghma” at a local restaurant. The musical program's main singer Khan Ather, who hails from Hyderabad, India, entertained the audience by singing popular songs of Mohammed Rafi and Ghazals (poetry) of renowned poets. The four-hour program was attended by a large number of Indians and their families along with office-bearers of different Indian associations. Akhtar ul Islam, President of Middle East NRI Association (MENA) and Obaid ur Rahman, President of BISWAS, attended the event as chief guests. Mir Muzzaffar Ali, businessman, and Aleem Khan, CEO of AMC Media, were the guests of honor. Mumtaz Ali Akram, a businessman from Jubail also attended the program. Ather has been performing live on stage for the past 40 years. Mohammed Quaiser, President of Tanzeem Hum Hindustani, appreciated Ather for his illustrious singing career spanning four decades. He said that Ather promotes many Urdu poets by singing their unpublished Ghazals, adding that Ather also dedicates the entire event to the poets. During events guests always forward to treating themselves with good food. This year Niagra Restaurant bagged the “Best Haleem” award and the hotel's owner Mohammed Rafeeq delightfully came to receive it. Hyderabad's Pista House was also presented with a special award on receiving the prestigious GI (geographical indication) certificate. The award was received by Syed Ali Etasham, Muqtar Hussain and Mohammed Saleem. Geographical indication is a form of intellectual property right (IPR) and a recognition given by the Government of India for a traditional product originating and the place and the product originating from the place have become synonymous. Ali presented a shawl to Quaiser on successfully organizing the musical program. Javed Ali hosted the program. and Obaid ur Rahman delivered the vote of thanks.
