Syeda Amtul Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The School Management Council (SMC) of Pakistan International School English Section here Rehab held a meeting with parents at its school premises recently. The meeting which took place alongside the Parents-Teachers Conference (PTC) was highly appreciated by parents. The SMC provided an update on school plans and developments since the formation December 2013. Hamid Bashir, the SMC Chairman, outlined some of the key strategic priorities, expansion plan and staff capability development. The council updates parents on the progress of its projects. Bashir was accompanied in the meeting by Tahir Malik, deputy chairman, and other members including Dr. Akhtar Quershi, Faisal Afzal Khan, Kamran Ahmed and Dr. Tauqeer Ahmad Malik. Imran Raza Khan, acting principal, and Dr. A H Baker, education advisor were also present. The key features of the meeting included the appointment of auditors to carry out an audit of school financial records, revision of the organizational structure of the school, progress on the appointment of a new principal, improvement in the syllabus and curriculum, and formulation of new school management policies, among others. SMC members were engaged in highly interactive discussions regarding these and other areas of concern highlighted by parents with a commitment to fully address the raised issues. The meeting which continued for over two hours was extremely productive and parents also expressed their satisfaction as most of their concerns were already being addressed by the SMC. SMC members thanked the parents and school faculty for their support and confidence and assured them that they will ensure PISJ-ES's educational standards are elevated to an even higher level than its current status. Parents appreciated that SMC meeting with parents was a gigantic step toward bridging previous communication gaps between the school and the parents; it was agreed to hold such meetings at regular intervals. Email addresses of SMC members were also circulated among parents for contact.
