Kashmir Black Day was observed at Pakistan International School (English Section) here on Monday. Students highlighted the issue and showed their brotherhood with Kashmiris struggling for independence. School's acting Principal Sehar Kamran said October 27 is observed every year as “the Black Day of Kashmir.”. On this day in 1947, Indian troops entered Kashmir through Srinagar airport against the will of the Kashmiri people and the partition plan. As per the plan, Muslim majority areas were supposed to join Pakistan and predominant Hindu states to join India. Independent states like Kashmir were free to join any one of them. The states were given choice to join according to their demographic nature, geography and wish of their people and state, but the then ruler Raja Hari Singh joined India against the wishes of the majority of Kashmiri Muslims. The “Black Day” is observed by the Kashmiris against occupation of their state by India. Sehar Kamran said the day was being observed to highlight the actual cause of Kashmir movement, condemn the Indian atrocities and gain attention of international community. “The world and the UN must pressurize Indian to stop its campaign of violence and give rights to Kashmiris who believe in plebiscite,” she said. – SG __
