JEDDAH — The family of a schoolteacher who was sentenced to death by the general court in Jeddah on charges of kidnapping, torturing and raping 12 underage girls has appealed to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah seeking his retrial on the basis of two reports issued by the police and the health department. The the health department report said a medical examination on one of the victims did not prove she had been sexually assaulted. The police report said nine cases of child rape were reported in Jeddah while the accused was behind bars. The Court of Appeals in Riyadh has upheld the death sentence.
