Published in The Saudi Gazette on 21 - 04 - 2014

RIYADH — The American University of Sharjah (AUS), ranked as one of the top 440 universities of the world by QS World University Ranking, is hosting an open session for high school graduates who want to enroll there.
The sessions started on Sunday and will last until April 24 in Jeddah to orient the students and their parents of the university's accredited programs, tradition of academic excellence and its multicultural campus life.
AUS admission counselors are available to meet the students and the parents at Jeddah's Crown Plaza Hotel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The university's admission counselors has just ended a 4-day meetings in Riyadh at the International Exhibition and Convention Center from April 15 to 18.
Dr. Thomas Hochstettler, AUS Acting Chancellor, said: “AUS is the benchmark for quality university education in the Gulf, favored by students, parents and employers. Our students experience true campus life within a regional setting and the excellent quality of teaching and learning experiences attested by our track record and independent accreditations.
He added: “Our quality of education and student life within a fully self-sustained campus is unmatched in the MENA region. AUS offers a platform for bright students to fulfill their ambitions in the most multicultural and advanced economies in the word today.”
AUS is accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates and by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States.
Ali Shuhaimy, AUS Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, said that “in Saudi Arabia, we will listen to and advise prospective students and their parents about how to select the right university and the unique opportunities offered by AUS. Our programs are delivered by highly qualified international faculty members, the majority of whom hold the highest degrees in their respective fields. We also offer a great educational environment where students are challenged and encouraged to develop their critical thinking, communication skills and leadership.”
“AUS is one of the most competitive universities in the UAE and its academic reputation keeps growing every year,” said Amr Alkhatib, a junior majoring in public relations. “The university helped me a lot and the great academic programs it offers makes it a great place to study. Even the Saudi embassy in the UAE recommends AUS to Saudi students because of its academic excellence. I can't wait to earn my degree from such a respectable institute. It is an honor for me to make my country proud by being able to share the great education and values I learned at AUS. I encourage other students from my country to join AUS too,” he said.
AUS is the main provider of high-quality American style higher education in the Gulf region. The rigors of comprehensive academic courses at AUS are tempered by its superb facilities for recreation and for social and personal development through sports, arts and culture. This combination of work and play is an integral part of all-around student development at the university. – SG
