With regard to the article “Doctors resign over coronavirus scare” (Apr. 16), I am surprised to learn that doctors who are very well paid by the government and respected by the public can leave their patients and fail to discharge their duty. This unethical attitude is alarming. We know that there have been other deadly outbreaks of disease in the world and we have seen the commitment of doctors to their patients in those countries. The article points the finger at doctors, who are, unfortunately, themselves victims of the system. The Ministry of Health has failed to provide proper quarantine and health care guidelines to many of its staff (including doctors, nurses and paramedics). Many doctors have raised issues with their management regarding the necessary steps required to control this outbreak, and as there has been no action, some of them have decided to resign.
