JEDDAH — Khak-e-Taiba Trust (KTT) Jeddah hosted a grand farewell party in honor of Indian Consul General Faiz Ahmed Kidwai at a local restaurant here. Kidwai, who is leaving for India after completing his three-year tenure, thanked KTT and other community members for trusting and honoring him. He said: “I am not used to so much praise, whatever I have done I have done in my line of duty. I have not achieved it alone. I have achieved it with the help of my staff, with the help of the Indian community and with the help of all of you. If I was alone I am sure that I wouldn't have done even 10 percent of what I could do during these three years.” Kidwai said he genuinely appreciated the efforts of KTT. “I want to give a message to everybody that this is what we need for our community back in India and we need many more such trusts in almost in each and every district of India to take up such programs and to help Indians.” He added: “With fifty members if they can achieve this I am sure all of us who come from various parts of India can do something similar for the Indians back home. All of us know the situation of our community, the worst thing that is happened to us is we have started looking at the government for everything and we have somehow lost confidence in our own selves and what we can achieve. The day we regain that confidence I am sure we do not need any governmental support we are capable of standing on earth on our feet and achieving what we can.” The consul general acknowledged Syed Khaja Viqaruddin's, who compered the gathering, efforts when on consulate's request for assistance he helped release Indian prisoners from Saudi jails; and Imran Kausar for helping Indians during the amnesty period by providing food packets. A 20-minute documentary prepared by Azmat Ali Imran of KTT's Youth Wing GS showed glimpses of Kidwai's successful three-year journey in the Kingdom. Chief Advisor of KTT Aleem Khan Falaki enlightened the audience about Kidwai's personality and attitude with people. Captain Farhat Siddiqui, a well-wisher of the trust, said: “Kidwai is a very calm and composed person. He has a sharp mind with general interest and thirst for acquiring knowledge unlike many who like to impress with eloquent words and bombastic terminology.” Siadat Ali Khan, senior member of KTT, also addressed and praised Kidwai's effort. President KTT Ahmed Abdul Hakeem presented Kidwai with a plaque and a bouquet. Other members present on the occasion were Ehab Lashkar, Sultan Abdul Mannan, Aleem Khan Falaki, Imran Kausar, executive member Haroon and Yahya Syed of Kids Wing. Abbas Khan, Abdul Hakeem and ex-president of the trust Aijaz Ahmed Khan also addressed the gathering. A message from chief patron of KTT Shamim Kausar was delivered by Imran Kausar, director of KTT computer center, as the former was unable to attend the program due to a prior commitment. A presentation featuring various activities of KTT was also screened. The program started with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur'an by Abbas khan followed by a Naat by Syed Khalid Madani and Ameen Ansari. KTT Anthem was presented by Yahya Syed, Zakariya and Umaimah along with other kids'wing members. Syed Rafath Shah, media coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks. The gathering was co-sponsored by Twin Cities Welfare Association.
