The program began with a welcome speech by the Principal of the school Wafaa Ahmed Ashwami. She welcomed the guests and college representatives who displayed the different options they offered in each discipline and the most favored fields of the times. She advised students to acquire knowledge in their interested fields. She said: “We want to provide a platform for experts to offer the options and make the girls familiar to the outside world. It is a part of our vision and mission and that's why we planned this career day.” “Everyone wants to plan a career and it's about time now, as grade 9 is the starting point of IGCSE and they have to choose which subject they want to study. Only after making the choice of the subject can they know what they want to be in the future, and that's why this career day is being held to give them an idea about what they will learn outside the school,” she said. She further added: “Though we invite some of the colleges to explain to them about the subjects and what they need to study in the future in their career, it is a great chance for the girls to get first-hand information. We provide this opportunity.” “This is another way of learning for them, what I believe if you educate a man, you educate a man but if you educate a woman then you educate a whole world. These girls are very intelligent and they are geared to make a choice,” she said. Key elements of the Career Day included booths of different professions displaying various opportunities in medical, pharmacy, nursing, art, Islam and journalism etc. Saba Abdullah, a grade 9 student looking at opportunities in mass media career, said “the program was interesting and useful.” Bashair from the same class said: “I will graduate next year, and the career day event helped me narrow down my choices. It helped direct our way, and career day helps us to make up our minds.” “We are getting chance to know more about our desired career in this event,” she added.
