I am writing with regard to the article “Enough studies, we need solutions” (Mar. 17). Madness on the roads in Saudi Arabia has reached epic proportions. This must be checked by all means. The author is absolutely right when he suggests that punitive action should be taken including the revocation of the driving licenses of reckless drivers who cause so much pain and misery to people on the roads. On the other hand some expatriate workers who come here in the category of cleaners or laborers find after arrival that the transportation business is lucrative and promises them a handsome and easy income. It seems strange that most of them manage to get their driving licenses easily and it is hard to understand how expats in those categories can afford to maintain a vehicle.
