Mohammed Mar'i Saudi Gazette RAMALLAH – Israeli soldiers on Monday shot dead a Palestinian man in the Allenby Bridge crossing on the border between Jordan and West Bank. The Israeli Army Radio said that the soldiers opened fire against the man after he reportedly tried to seize the weapon of a soldier on the Allenby Bridge. The man was identified by the Palestinian sources Raed Ze'aiter, 38, from the West Bank city of Nablus. No one else was hurt in the incident. The report said that the man was crossing into the West Bank from Jordan when the incident occurred. Nazmi Mohanna, director general of the Palestinian side of the crossing, said that that Ze'aiter was shot at the first inspection point on the Israeli side. He added that the Israeli soldiers immediately opened fire at the man as soon as he came out from the bus. As a result of the incident, the crossing has been closed until further notice while the incident was being investigated. The crossing serves as a border between the West Bank and Jordan and is operated by the Israel Airports Authority.
