RIYADH — More than 50 parents from Indian expatriates community participated in an ‘Academic Session', held at the banquet hall of Cocopalm restaurant. The event was organized by Bihar Anjuman, a welfare organization dedicated to educational upliftment of students in India. Kaunain Shahidi, vice president of the organization, conducted the whole program and in his welcome address said the need of the hour was to receive informed decision in the selection of a career for children. “We need to select the career based on the children aptitude, strength and interest, instead of just following traditional courses,” said Shahidi. Shahidi emphasized on education that's based on total personality development. He said “In the 21st century, our children must have ability to adapt to change, think critically about information, solve problems, communicate and collaborate for greater advantage in work and life” Dr. Mukhtar Khan, educational consultant, presented the various possible career options for higher studies in India and Saudi Arabia. “Parents should be extra careful in choosing a career for their children and it should be done through proper research,” said Dr. Mukhtar. He assured his services to the expat communities in providing expert guidance. Riyasat Ali Chuadhry, Chairman of ACN Group, India, told the audience about the challenges he faced in establishing a group of companies dedicated for education. He offered his support for admissions in ACN educational institutions for needy and deserving students. The institute offers a range of courses at very reasonable fees. The group is also going to start Medical College in 2015-2016. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Dr. Shaukat Perwaiz, Principal of IISR, appreciated the efforts of the organizers and said that these kind of events to highlight the opportunities to expat communities is very important and he advised parents to improve their knowledge about higher studies courses by taking advantage of such events. Salman Khalid, academic director of IPS, emphasized the importance of such events and congratulated all the participants. He further added that ‘Academic Session' event organized by Bihar Anjuman is a very good initiative and this will certainly encourage the parents of expat students in exploring new options. Bihar Anjuman volunteers including Mohd. Shaheen, Abid Hussain, Azhar Hussain, Nusrat Ali Khan, Abul Farah, Ameenul Haque, Faizan Balkhi, Muzaffar Iqbal, Faisal Imam, Najmuzzaman, Naushad Alam and others were instrumental while organizing the event. — SG
