Ericsson has been recognized recently as the 4th Great Place to Work in the UAE in 2014. The ranking follows a survey covering companies across industries in the UAE and has witnessed an improvement in the company's position from the 2013 ranking, in which Ericsson was named 6th in the country. Girish Johar, Vice President and Head of Human Resources, Ericsson Region Middle East received the honor on behalf of the leading provider of telecommunications technology and services. “Innovation within Ericsson goes beyond our technology and into our workplace, where we strive to create an atmosphere that inspires our people to achieve their full potential,” said Ray Hassan, Executive Vice President, and President of Global Customer Unit Zain at Ericsson. “A company is only as good as its people, and receiving accolades such as this one from Great Place to Work Institute, recognizes and helps strengthen Ericsson's appeal as an employer for top talent. We would like to thank our employees for their amazing support and dedication to the company, as they are the real reason we have been awarded this recognition for the second year in a row.” “Our company's success is entirely down to the people we work with; we encourage our employees to become a force for positive change, inspiring a strong sense of purpose, to be able to deliver best solutions to our customers,” said Johar while receiving the award. “When it comes to our work environment, we have created a unique cultural recipe that ensures employee happiness and brings people together. We push for excellence and continuous improvement, and inspire and encourage our people to be the best in business. To have achieved this improved ranking is very inspiring and will further push all of us at Ericsson, to make it even a better place to work.” David Robert, Chief Executive Officer of Great Place to Work Gulf, said: “All of the top companies this year demonstrate world-class people practices that help foster a high degree of trust within the workplace and ultimately help the companies attract and retain the best talent, and efficiently drive toward organizational objectives. Ericsson's keen focus on employee development and engagement are examples of such practices. We would like to congratulate this year's top 15 companies that have been recognized as great places to work in the UAE, and thank all of the companies that participated in this year's assessment.” The selection process saw the Great Place to Work Institute conduct an evaluation of each participating company, with two-thirds of the company's score based on a survey sent to the employees in each company. Questions asked in the survey are related to employees' attitudes about the management's credibility, employee engagement and job satisfaction, with all responses kept anonymous to ensure that employees aren't pressured to provide positive answers. The remaining third of the scoring is based on a second survey that is designed to assess each company's pay and benefits program, hiring processes, internal communications and talent development. – SG
