Badea Abu Al-Naja Saudi Gazette MAKKAH – The Makkah Municipality has assigned more than 40 guides to receive visitors of “Makkah House” at the National Festival of Culture and Heritage at the Janadriya village outside Riyadh. The municipality has conducted a number of workshops to train these guides to conduct their duties in a professional manner. Assistant Makkah Mayor for Public Relations Sameer Tawakkal said the municipality has taken all necessary measures to ensure "Makkah House" is properly presented. He pointed out a number of Makkah youths were chosen and trained and they were provided with the traditional clothes that would distinguish them as Makkawis. "Brochures are also available in many languages that explain the traditional social life, lifestyle and economic situation of Makkah residents," he said. The brochures also describe conditions in Makkah through the ages, he added. Tawakkal claimed scientific studies have shown that Makkah lies exactly in the middle of the world. He noted “Makkah House” was carefully designed to reflect the true lifestyles of the simple Makkawis. Gifts from Makkawis' houses were also being distributed, said Tawakkal. A number of visitors to "Makkah House" have expressed their admiration of the presentation, which included traditional handcrafts. The deputy supervisor of "Makkah House", Talal Al-Hendi said the house was built to reflect the traditional houses of Makkah that were built with stone. Visitors will understand how older generations lived in Makkah, he said.
