Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 02 - 2014

DUBAI – Alongside the 16th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2014, organized under the directive of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and DEWA President, DEWA is organizing SmarTech, an event showcasing solutions, products and green buildings related-technologies targeting the commercial and industrial sectors, on April 14-16, 2014 at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
For the first time ever, SmarTech Shopper which targets the consumer sector, will be held under the theme ‘Better Life' alongside SmarTech, where exhibitors will showcase various eco-friendly household appliances and solutions.
SmarTech Shopper will be open to the public, and will offer special discounts on household appliances and products.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, said: “SmarTech is in line with our vision to become an international sustainable entity. At DEWA, we adopt best technology solutions that contribute to enhancing our operational efficiency and raise quality of services. The event offers an ideal platform to enhance awareness and highlight eco friendly solutions. Moreover, it opens dialogue channels with all society segments which are major electricity and water consumers and enhance their awareness about the importance of rationalizing consumption.”
The hosting of SmarTech Shopper stems from DEWA's commitment to the Smart City initiative that seeks to manage the emirate's facilities and services through intelligent and interconnected systems compatible with smart home-appliances to ensure the highest standards of environment sustainability.
Al Tayer added Smartech is part of DEWA's relentless efforts to rationalize electricity and water consumption where it organizes awareness campaigns and social communication targeting all segments of the society including different ages and cultures to highlight the society's' responsibility in rationalizing electricity and water consumption. Smar Tech works on spreading technologies and tools that help in rationalizing consumption of electricity and water to preserve environment resources. – SG
