JEDDAH — Nursing students at Batterjee Medical College in collaboration with the Ministry of Health participated in a Gulf Child Day organized by the Gulf Cooperation Council in Jeddah malls. The two-day event included many activities such as exhibitions, awareness-raising corners and educational seminars that centered on child care and health. BMC's students organized a corner dedicated to newborns and how to take care of them. The corner aimed to raise awareness of the importance of vaccinations, proper nutrition for newborns and monitoring their growth. Students provided advice and guidance and also distributed brochures to raise awareness. Gifts and souvenirs were distributed among the audience. Dr. Hassan Shaibah, BMC dean, said participation in such events is part of the college's role to support social development. He pointed out BMC was keen on participating in community service as it has always been a main focus of the college's strategic plan, which aims to spread knowledge internally and externally. Sobhi Batterjee, chairman of the board of trustees, highlighted the Kingdom's interest in participating in this day, which celebrates children in the GCC. He said: “Children are the building block of any nation so we need to take care of them from all aspects. “Children should be given their educational, cultural and social rights. “These children are our hope for a successful nation and a better future.”
