Saudi detained for spreading rumor

MADINAH — A young Saudi man has been arrested in Madinah for spreading a rumor that SR5 million was stolen from a shopping mall in the city by thieves who killed the mall's security, according Col. Fahd Al-Ghanam, spokesman for Madinah police. The rumor, which went viral on social media websites, prompted the chief of police Brig. Abdulhadi Al-Shahrani to order officers to search for the young man. The 18-year-old was apprehended and referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution.
