TRIPOLI — Sebha airport which closed 16 days ago because of communal clashes in and around the town will reopen in the next few days, the airport's General Manager Mohammed Owheda has said. Owheda told Libya Herald that flights would start again as soon as the area around the airport had been secured. There had been some minor damage to buildings as the result of random missile hits, such as broken windows and damaged doors, but they would not impede the reopening, he said. “For the moment we are expecting to necessary supplies of food fuel to be flown in through the Tamenhint airbase now that it has been freed earlier today,” Owheda added. Food and fuel supplies have been running very low in Sebha first as a result of the clashes between the Awlad Sulaiman tribe, whose members dominate the army's local presence in the 6th Brigade, and Tebus, and then between security forces and Gaddafi loyalists. – Libya Herald
