TRIPOLI — Sebha Airport reopened Wednesday after a joint statement was issued by the local council, elders and civil society organizations condemning this week's kidnapping in Tripoli of Alashae Mehdi, head of the Qatrun Martyrs Brigade, which is based in the southern town. The airport was was closed Tuesday by a group of Tebus in protest at the disappearance of Mehdi from his Tripoli hotel Sunday. There is still no official news of Mehdi although there are reports of him being held at a location on the airport road. A group of Tebus and Arabs are due to travel from Sebha to Tripoli to meet with the government on the issue. — Libya Herald
