With regard to the article “Make owners of abandoned wells pay blood money!” (Jan. 25), I do agree that an unfenced well is sheer irresponsibility. However, if you want to have a picnic on my land, then it is your responsibility to make sure that the place is safe. A survey of land before you decide to picnic there is a must. You cannot blame the landlord for your own carelessness. Letting your innocent children wander around without being monitored is your own fault. Ramanujam, Online response
