TUNIS — Tunisia's interim prime minister has postponed the expected formation of his new government due to disagreements over the key post of interior minister. The formation of an interim government of technocrats to guide the country to new elections was an important stage in resolving a political crisis last year between the Islamists and the opposition. Interim Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa said in the early Sunday that talks would continue to find consensus. Jomaa wants to retain Interior Minister Lotfi Ben Jeddou to maintain continuity during a period of instability. The opposition, which blames Ben Jeddou for not doing enough to prevent the assassination of a left-wing politician last year, demands a new figure. The impasse comes as the elected assembly is set to vote on Tunisia's landmark new constitution. – AP
